Introduction from Teachers

Greetings parents!

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! We are thrilled to introduce you to the Special Education Team at Buffalo Ridge. We are looking forward to a productive year filled with excitement, exploration and learning!

Moderate Needs Special Education TeacherJennifer Romero, M.Ed.

Hi, I’m Jennifer Romero and I am one of the mild-moderate learning specialists at Buffalo Ridge Elementary. I am extremely passionate about what I do and have worked in education for over twenty years. This is my 12th year in Douglas county and my 10th year at Buffalo Ridge. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to teach many different grades and ages. My belief in developing meaningful relationships is very important to me. I feel this is the best way to support the needs of my students and families. More than anything, I want my students to feel valued, supported, and challenged.
A little more about me... I was born and raised in California and have been married for 22 years. We have four amazing kids!
In addition to teaching, I enjoy reading, movies, skiing, traveling and spending time with my family. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice. My Master’s degree is in Special Education, with endorsements in Early Childhood Special Education, Special Education Generalist, Elementary Education, and a Graduate Certificate in Literacy. I believe communication is essential to your student’s success. Please feel free to contact me with any comments, concerns, or questions you may have. I look forward to another great year at Buffalo Ridge! Email is the best way to reach me during the day.

Welcome Back from Mrs. Romero!

Moderate Needs Special Education Teacher,
Karen Breisinger

The beginning rhymes with "rice" or you can call me Ms. B. I grew up in Ohio, but spent much time after college in Pennsylvania.  I have three grown children.  My daughter lives in Atlanta, GA and my two sons are still in PA.  I've taught many different types of special ed. over the years, but in chunks:  first, in Texas and PA, near Pittsburgh, with Learning Disabled, Emotional Support and Multi-Handicapped populations.  Then, I took some years off to raise my three children and later continued teaching in the Erie, PA area with Autistic Support and Multi-Disabilities Support. I re-located to the Denver area about a year ago and taught one year in Cherry Creek's ILC program.
Education:  Undergraduate:  Bowling Green State University in Ohio for Learning and Behavioral Disorders, Educable MR and Elementary Education.  Graduate:  Edinboro University of Pennsylvania for Reading Specialist.
My favorite color is blue and I love chocolate!   In my free time, I love to explore the new places around Denver, especially in the mountains and even more so, if there is something historical to visit! Last summer, I went to a real ghost town!  Spending time with family and friends in the Denver region is something I also enjoy.

Significant Support Needs teacher (SSN), Amelia Graser

I have been working with students for more than 20 years in Special Education. I grew up and went to school in California and moved to Colorado in 2001.  I am married and have two sons. I want the very best for your child! I love teaching and believe in lifelong learning. I will be at BRE Monday-Friday.

Speech-Language Pathologist,
Amy Sealock

My name is Amy Sealock.  I have been an SLP for 25 years and I LOVE MY JOB!!!  I have worked in DCSD for 17 years and been at Coyote Creek Elementary part time for 14 years. I am originally from Chicago, Illinois and moved to Denver (on a whim). I have been married for 20 years and we have two adventurous teenagers and two spunky dogs. We are a very active family and enjoy hiking, boating, paddleboarding, skiing/snowboarding, motor cross, camping, etc!
Throughout my career, I have worked with students in all populations: preschool, elementary, middle, and high schools.  However, elementary school is my favorite as I am a strong advocate for early intervention!  For the past several years, I have had the amazing opportunity to allow me to work solely with the Significant Support Needs population.  It is a privilege to empower these students to communicate through a variety of creative and alternative methods. I love to collaborate with families and support staff to best assist the needs of the students. My therapy style is just like me...quirky, silly, and fun!!
This year, I am excited to be back at work full time and joining you at BRE! I am at Buffalo Ridge all day Tuesday and Friday and in the afternoon on Thursday.  I am looking forward to a great year!!
